MY CREATIVE PROCESS

I have learned a lot about my creative process over the course of this capstone project. The main thing that I learned about myself is my tendency to create a lot of ideas very quickly and wanting to accomplish them all. I had to learn to kill my darlings to create a more concise project. This skill is something I will take with me in the future. I often over plan and have a large scope because I want to accomplish something out of bounds for the time I have for the project. This experience will help me in the future with actually being able to complete my projects by killing all unnecessary darlings and focusing on my central message. Another thing I learned about myself is that my creativity is sparked by Mind Wandering (unsure how to cite). I always knew that I came up with ideas and ambitions just before going to sleep with my phone off and my mind wandering, but I never knew this to be a creative technique. Working on this project, I would take walks with little stimuli to force my mind to wander during the day and allowing it to come up with ideas for my project. This is how I planned my curation!

Quick Write

Participants engaged in a three minute quick write. They were instructed to write about their chosen emotion, why they were feeling that way, and anything else they associated with it. This was meant to prime the brain into feeling and thinking about that emotion more heavily.
